The following are the steps to hide the shared folder from your network users:

2. select "Sharing and Security".

3. Enter a share name for your folder, or a drive, and add a $ sign to the end of it, for example: yourfolder$. You need know that the name can be up to 12 characters long including the dollar sign.

This will hide the folder on the network, and in 'My Network Places', but people are able to access the folder if they know the name.

To access the folder, you may also want to map a network drive. The following are the steps:

1. Double click on My Computer.

2. Go to Tools along the menu bar, and 'Map a Network Drive'.

3. Pick the folder on the network you want to access and make sure to check the box "Reconnect at login" otherwise you'll have to create the map every time you reboot.
