How to install 2 (multiple) operating systems (os) in same computer?


Windows XP

1. Install the third party partition tool like PartitionMagic and repartition your disk. Or you can install a new disks for your new operating systems to be installed without using partition tool.

2. Install the new operating system on your new partition or new disk.

3. Windows XP will automatically set the dual boot for you after finishing the new installation and reboot the system.

4. If you want change the dual boot order, follow the following steps:

1. Go to Start

2. Click on Run

3. Type msconfig and hit Enter

4. Boot.ini tab

You can change the booting time, order, and others there.

Windows Vista and Windows 7

1. Use Shrink feature in Windows Vista and Windows 7 to repartition your disk. Or you can install a new disks for your new operating systems to be installed. For how to repartition hard drive, Go To How to resize partition in Vista and Windows 7

2. Install the new operating system on your new partition or new disk. Usually you can see the dual-boot screen (Windows 7 and Windows XP) after reboot.

3. If the new os (xp) is not listed, you need to use the third party boot tool like BootMagic or EasyBCD to set up dual boot of your operating systems.
