Note: You need to back up your registry first.
The following are the instructions to speed up Start Menu:
1. Click Start and Run. Type in "regedit" (no quotations) and click OK.
2. In the Registry Editor, navigate to the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
3. Single left click the "Desktop" entry to empty its contents in to the right pane.
4. Locate an entry titled: MenuShowDelay in the right pane.
5. Double click MenuShowDelay.
6. Change the "value data" number to 0. The default delay value for the start menu is 400.
7. Click OK and exit the Registry Editor.
8. Reboot your computer to take effect.
